Ottinger Machine

With over 75 years of manufacturing expertise in the field of size reduction equipment, Ottinger Machine Company was ready to step into the 21st century. Although, they had some wonderful old-timey brochures - we're talking 30 years old. The Ottingers already enjoy an industry wide respect for their machines, so identity was not a problem. Robert gave us cart blanche to produce a current and snazzy website. What fun we had with the old brochures. We extracted critical information and put together a fantastic eye-catching website.

What We Did For Ottinger Machine

Although Ottinger Machine already enjoyed the respect and noteriety in their industry, they hadn't invested in their marketing in a long time. Definitely not on their Website. So, we started with a clean site. Well, not really. We had some of the coolest, old-timey brochures to get ideas from. We could have just thrown out all that material, but there were some gems in there. Afterall, the machine we were going to market was 30 years old.

Technical Stuff

  • Graphic Design

The Ottinger's supplied fantastic photos of their equipment. We already mentioned the old brochures. We edited the photos and plucked out the illustrations, colored them and used them in the site.

  • Copyrighting

The old brochure also had a fair amount of content. But, we optimized the content for the search engines and readability.

  • Website Templating

Bless the guys who came up with cascading stylesheets (CSS)! Have we mentioned how easy it to change the design of your website when it's coded using CSS and div's. It's possible to change an entire site's appearance by changing the code in the stylesheet - not the code on each of the pages. Talk about efficient.

Although the Ottinger's will never touch their code themselves, we still developed the Website using templates in Dreamwaver. A few templates was enough to create all the pages in Ottinger Machines' Website. Creating templates and using Dreamweaver helps to keep costs down. Changes can be made in the templates that affect only the pages that implement those templates. So, Website changes can be made in a snap - no more toiling over each page for global changes.
